Another one of Buzz’s abilities is jumping and double-jumping. In the first level of every zone, Mr. Potato Head will appear with one of his body parts missing. If the player finds that body part, Buzz will be rewarded with a power-up that is permanently unlocked and can be used in other levels that have that power-up available.

A total of five power-ups can be unlocked throughout the game. These power-ups can help Buzz progress through the game in different ways by making some obstacles, tasks and challenges easier or possible. Power-ups include the Cosmic Shield, which protects Buzz from damage and hazardous materials; the Disc Launcher, which is used to defeat tough enemies; and the Rocket Boots, which make Buzz move really fast to complete daunting tasks.

A Grappling Hook and Hover Boots can be used to reach high places. For example, some of your toy pals will have you retrieve a lost object for them in return for a power-up, while others will challenge you to a race or some other activity.

Either way, Buzz is rewarded for his hard work. But for me, this game wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Kids and adults alike enjoyed the first Toy Story movie, with its brilliantly rendered characters and lifelike animation. Now a second feature-length Toy Story flick is on the way, and so is a game by the same name.
